About the Committee
MIT’s Gift Acceptance Committee is the Institute’s principal forum to evaluate if its philanthropic activities are consistent with the Institute’s mission and values and thereby protect its reputation. The Committee’s function is to advise and assist the Provost on these issues and is asked to:

- Apply consistent principles and frameworks for evaluating gifts.
- Provide a forum for dialogue based on different campus perspectives and roles reflected by committee members.
- Seek additional participation in discussions on a case-by-case basis as necessary from members of our community who are soliciting or in receipt of donations.
